Semester 2nd

This course traces India’s ancient transformations, from the Mauryan Empire through the Gupta age, exploring political dynasties, religious movements, and cultural achievements.

Social formations and cultural patterns of the Ancient world 2
This course explores medieval Europe’s feudal structures, Church power, and serfdom, alongside Islam’s rise from tribal identity to Caliphal statehood.

history of the USA reconstruction to new age politics
This course follows America’s transformation from post-Civil War Reconstruction through industrial growth, world wars, social movements, and modern political realignments.
Semester 3rd

History of India – III 750 – 1200
This course examines India from 750 to 1200, exploring regional kingdoms, feudal structures, religious transformations, and the arrival of Islamic powers.

Rise of the Modern West – I
This course traces Europe’s shift from feudalism to capitalism, exploring state formation, religious change, colonial expansion, and the birth of modernity.

History of Modern China
This course examines China’s turbulent journey from imperial decline through foreign domination, revolution, and civil war to the rise of Communist rule.
Semester 4th

History of India – IV: c.1200 – 1500
This course explores medieval India from 1200 to 1500, covering Delhi Sultanate rule, regional kingdoms, Bhakti-Sufi traditions, and cultural synthesis.

Rise of the Modern West – II
This course analyzes 17th-18th century European transformations, exploring scientific revolutions, political shifts, colonial networks, and the roots of industrialization.

History of Modern Japan (c. 1868 – 1950s)
This course traces Japan’s dramatic transformation from Meiji restoration through imperial expansion, war, defeat, and postwar reconstruction up to the 1950s.
Semester 5th

History of India – V: c. 1500 – 1600
This course examines 16th-century India, focusing on the rise of the Mughal Empire, regional powers, cultural flowering, and early European encounters.

History of India – VI: c. 1750 – 1857
This course examines India from 1750 to 1857, covering the decline of Mughal power, the rise of British colonial rule, and early resistance movements.

History of Modern Europe – I
This course explores the French Revolution, its European impact, industrial capitalism’s rise, and new social movements shaping the nineteenth century.
Semester 6th

History of India – VII: 1600 – 1750s
This course examines India from 1600 to the 1750s, covering Mughal expansion, administrative systems, cultural achievements, and the rise of European trading companies.

History of India – VIII: c. 1857 – 1950
This course traces India’s journey from the 1857 uprising through colonial rule, nationalist movements, and the struggle that led to independence in 1947.

History of Modern Europe – II
This course examines nation-state formation, imperialism, World War I, inter-war developments, and intellectual movements shaping 19th-20th century Europe.

Delhi Through the Ages The Making of its Early Modern History
